Windows Vista UAC feature

One of the security improvements are extolling the most of Vista being the most critical. UAC (User Account Control) in order to resolve a senior vulnerabilities in how Windows controls the rights of users, but those who do not go saying that it is not strong enough and do not effectively design inappropriate.

Problem here is the role of account management. Best solution is to use the grant only when administrators perform tasks requested this right, the drivers installed (driver) device or change the parameters (registry). But reality shows, the default user usually log in with an administrator account, even with normal tasks. When users log in with administrator rights, and deep Trojan horse is wearing in Hoanh tung.

UAC attempt to repair this bad habit, the default software to run the more reduced. When an application try to do anything that requires administrator rights, UAC will prompt the user with the dialog box asked for permission to "improve" the application to have the right level or higher.

Unfortunately, UAC has split. For example, the computer set-up and installation services software is allowed to run with administrator rights fully as in the older version of Windows. Furthermore, Ollie Whitehouse, a security specialist Symantec's, but only the implementation file is provided with Vista can be used to "extravagant" UAC. Such problems related to administrator account is still there.

However, not only split up through the present mechanism of protection UAC, the confirmation dialog by UAC can troubles and hard to understand. You can find how to prohibit UAC from troubles, or can often considered the alert message and click OK but not thinking. Moreover, they can easily be cheated by the way of interest or fraud.

According to documents on Microsoft's UAC: "Windows support services provides many features to protect your system, but it requires the use of properly. The protection of safety of your system depends on your behavior , so think before you press ". In other words, the UAC setting responsibility for the safety of the system's use - difficult to absolutely secure.

Microsoft has many additional features for Windows Vista Help UAC addition, many features of it to increase security for the native operating system. But if the review is the only additional improvements are small compared with the previous version of Windows.

How to improve computer performance ?

Some following are 6 very useful things that help you to optimize your computer or improve your PC performance fast. Just apply these below mentioned things and you will be able to squeeze out some more juice out of the old thing!

1. Disable file indexing service - This is a small task that uses a great deal of RAM and induces much disk thrashing. Your system instantly becomes more responsive. To do that follow these step:
> Double click the My Computer icon
> Right-click on the C: Drive,
> Hit Properties.
> Now here Uncheck "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching."
> Apply changes to "C: sub-folders and files,"
> Click OK.

2. You should delete the constants of your Windows Prefetch folder every week - Windows Xp Upgrade software can "prefetch" portions of data and applications that are frequently loaded. This allows processes appear to start faster when requested the user. Over time, the prefetch folder overwhelms with references to files and applications no longer in use. Guess what happens? Windows XP wastes time and grinds to a halt by pre-loading obsolete data.

The prefetch folder resides on your local hard disk, under the Windows folder.
%systemroot%\prefetch
-or-
C:\windows\prefetch
Just go there and delete their all contents.

3. Try to set no picture on your Desktop. Your desktop background consumes a fair amount of memory and can slow the loading time of your system. It will improve optimization of your computer.

1) Right click on Desktop and select Properties
2) Select the Desktop tab
3) In the Background window select None
4) Click Ok

4. Some time you feel and noticed that every time you open My Computer to browse folders that there is a slight delay. This is because Windows XP automatically searches for network files and printers every time you open Windows Explorer.

To fix this and to increase browsing significantly:
1) Open My Computer
2) Click on Tools menu
3) Click on Folder Options
4) Click on the View tab.
5) Un-check the Automatically search for network folders and printers check box
6) Click Apply
7) Click Ok
8) Reboot your computer

5. Optimize Your Page-file - Windows XP sizes the page file to about 1.5X the amount of actual physical memory by default. While this is good for systems with smaller amounts of memory (under 512MB) it is unlikely that a typical XP desktop system will ever need 1.5 X 512MB or more of virtual memory. If you have less than 512MB of memory, leave the page file at its default size. If you have 512MB or more, change the ratio to 1:1 page file size to physical memory size.

1) Right click on My Computer and select Properties
2) Select the Advanced tab
3) Under Performance choose the Settings button
4) Select the Advanced tab again and under Virtual Memory select Change
5) Highlight the drive containing your page file and make the initial Size of the file the same as the Maximum Size of the file.
